“this is not a pipe” and neither is this.
The world is a messy and beautiful place. Some people like to take pictures of their supper. Some people like to take pictures of aircraft taking off. Some people like to take pictures of live music. I like to take pictures of the nail that sticks up. I want people to see magical in the mundane. I want people to see the power that surrounds them, and the delicate, and the ephemeral.
Pushing the color, pushing the texture, pushing the composition, pushing the work over the edge and offering it a hand back up the cliff is how I work. The ordinary can find its purpose. The unusual can find its voice. The liminal can find its home. You can see the work being done. The photos remind you that you are looking at photos. They are not trying to pretend they are reality.
