what are you looking at here?

There is the time I came very close to naming a Washington State Ferry. Hundreds of submissions and mine was one of six that made it to the selection committee. Wishkah was finally chosen… you know, from the Aberdeen area… you know, like the Nirvana live album. They asked me to try again next time!

There are the pictures of the stuff I find at Seattle’s rich culture of thrift stores. No one wants to throw things away so all kinds of oddities show up there. There are many things you can find: toys that have been outgrown, estate items from recent passings, souvenirs from around the world. It goes on. So I snap their portraits, edit them, and present them as pieces to be contemplated. Enjoy.

Digital_Primitivism, digi-prim, is a project I have been working on with Betsy Stewart for a years. She explores the physical aspects of art, and I corrupt it into eye candy for the digital world. Then she posts it Instagram to share. We put together “lifestyle” images to show how much fun it is and try to sell people watches and shoes.

Finally, we have the philosophy birds. I take pictures of birds around the city, mostly seagulls, and apply philosophy quotes to them, mostly Sun Tzu. I am certain he studied these birds.
